A young French-Russian couple bought a run down, pokey semi-detached house and asked Velvet Orange to create a light, bright and cosy family home. We installed a double mansard in the roof to accommodate a large master en-suite with double shower/double sink room. Plenty of storage was planned into every inch of the space and the window seat has breathtaking views over London. We re-built the ground floor by breaking through walls and extending the kitchen to create a huge but welcoming family space with flexibility built in to close off the space. Getting to know them better meant we could design the map wall to document their travels and chalk wall to add a sense of interactive fun with their growing family. The 900 bottle wine cellar is a bonus. A lovely project for a lovely family.
